Customised training

Customised training can help your corporation with an area you’d like to focus on. 

We can tailor training to meet the needs of a group or your whole corporation. 

Workshops can be held all over Australia. The most common locations are:

  • at a corporation office or service
  • in the corporation’s community
  • online.

It can involve a corporation’s:

  • directors
  • future directors
  • members
  • key staff
  • key stakeholders relevant to the issues to be covered.

We can also deliver training to people thinking about registering their group under the CATSI Act.

Please note that we do not provide tailored training that covers information covered in our Corporate governance for Indigenous corporations or Understanding finances workshops.

Workshop structure

The workshops are tailored for each group or corporation. They can go for a few hours, a full day or multiple days. 

To get the best possible program, talk to us before the training about your needs.

Consider:

  • the goals of your training
  • who will benefit from the training and who from your corporation should attend – for example, directors and the CEO
  • the kind of training you want
  • whether your rule book needs updating
  • if there are any governance challenges to investigate.

Starting a corporation

Starting a corporation training is for new groups or existing entities looking to transfer registration or amalgamate.

This workshop provides an overview of:

  • what incorporation means
  • the ongoing requirements for operating as a registered Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander corporation
  • the registration process under the CATSI Act.

Rule book design or redesign

The rule book design or redesign workshop covers:

  • what a rule book is
  • the requirements under the CATSI Act
  • examples of governance structures and rules. 

We then facilitate discussion and decision-making around rules for your corporation to prepare a draft rule book.

Tailored training

A tailored training workshop is a one-off training workshop designed to address governance questions and issues that are specific to your corporation. Before you request training, you will need to work out what issues you want to address.
