Register of corporations

Every corporation registered under the CATSI Act is listed in the Register of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations. 

Find key information about a corporation by searching the register of Corporations.

Included in the register

The register lists each corporation’s:

  • registered name 
  • Indigenous corporation number (ICN)
  • date of registration
  • registration status 
  • name and address of the contact person or secretary, if available, or liquidator if the corporation is in liquidation or under special administration
  • key public documents held by ORIC, including the corporation's rule book. 

A corporation’s ICN doesn’t relate to its ABN, ARBN or ARSN numbers.

Corporation extract report

The register shows a corporation’s extract report. This is current information and a list of some documents held on the public register and may include:

  • current and previous name
  • ICN
  • principal activities
  • size
  • contact details
  • officers' details, such as current contact person, secretary and directors
  • names of members from the most recent reported list of members (some may not be published)
  • information from annual reports from the last 3 years.

Requests to unpublish information

Corporations can ask for personal information on these documents to be amended or unpublished. 

The Registrar may agree to remove or modify information on the register.

Find a corporation by trading name

Sometimes corporations use a trading name or business name. This is not in our register.

Search a corporation’s business name through:

  • the Australian Securities and Investments Commission  
  • the websites for state and territory jurisdictions.

Using the information in the register

Corporations supply the information in the register. The Registrar can’t guarantee the information is current or correct.

Using this information for unauthorised purposes may result in civil or criminal liability, including under the Privacy Act 1988. 

The Registrar does not authorise the information on the register to be used for mailing lists or advertising material. 

The Registrar disclaims any liability arising from the use of this register.

Deceased people

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this register may contain names of deceased people.

We acknowledge this may be distressing to people from some communities.
