Rule book design or redesign
Your rule book is your key governing document. It sets out the internal governance rules that apply to your corporation. It's important that it supports your corporation to practice good governance in a way that reflects your culture.
We usually have this as part of our ‘pre-incorporation doorway service’ with starting a new corporation training.
Outcomes
You'll learn about:
- why the rule book is so important
- corporate governance structures
- requirements for internal governance rules under the CATSI Act
- types of rules under the CATSI Act
- what's usually in a rule book
- how to tailor your rules to reflect traditional decision-making structures and practices.
By the end, you’ll have a draft rule book to continue to refine or present to your members to consider.
Format
This workshop is for:
- a board of directors
- a working group set up to review a rule book
- new groups looking to begin the registration process.
In this workshop, the facilitator will take you through the requirements of the CATSI Act. You’ll then discuss and decide on your corporation’s rule book or review your current rule book.
The workshop can be done over 1 or 2 days.
Working groups
A working group can have a mix of:
- corporation members
- common law holders
- a person from your native title representative body
- a person with skills or expertise in designing rules.
The ideal size of a working group is less than 7 people.
Costs
We cover the costs of delivering the training and getting our trainers to you.
The corporation or group must:
- arrange a venue
- provide catering as required.
