Coen Regional Aboriginal Corporation

Coen Regional Aboriginal Corporation is a community-based Aboriginal corporation located in Coen on Cape York Peninsula.

CRAC works to support the economic and social wellbeing of Indigenous people in Coen through locally driven services, community development and economic initiatives.

The Corporation operates and manages a range of community and commercial activities, including property and tenancy management, community and social support programs, justice-related services, Centrelink agency services and emerging economic and community development initiatives.

Job description/overview

Coen Regional Aboriginal Corporation (CRAC) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Interim Chief Executive Officer to provide executive leadership to the Corporation for an initial six-month period.

Reporting directly to the CRAC Board of Directors, the Interim CEO will provide strong organisational leadership and support the Corporation through a period of transition, with a focus on strengthening governance, financial management, funding compliance, organisational systems and service delivery.

The Interim CEO will work closely with the Board, staff, community, funding bodies and key stakeholders to ensure CRAC continues to deliver high-quality services and pursue economic and social development opportunities for the Coen community.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • providing strategic and operational leadership across the Corporation
  • supporting the Board to meet its governance and regulatory responsibilities
  • strengthening financial management, budgeting, cashflow monitoring and financial controls
  • ensuring government funding agreements, reporting and contractual obligations are effectively managed
  • overseeing organisational compliance, including requirements under the CATSI Act
  • leading and supporting CRAC staff and promoting a positive, safe and accountable workplace culture
  • reviewing and strengthening organisational policies, systems and processes
  • maintaining productive relationships with community, government, funding bodies and other stakeholders
  • supporting the Board with organisational planning and priorities
  • providing a clear transition and handover at the completion of the interim appointment.

This is a hands-on executive position requiring an individual who is comfortable working across strategic, governance and operational matters within a remote Aboriginal community-controlled organisation.
