Special administration start - Bandjalang Aboriginal Corporation Prescribed Body Corporate RNTBC

Announcement
Special administration

The Registrar of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations, Ms Tricia Stroud, has today placed the Bandjalang Aboriginal Corporation Prescribed Body Corporate RNTBC (ICN 7930) under special administration.

On 5 September 2025, the Registrar initiated an examination of the corporation’s books following reports of internal disputes that were significantly affecting the proper management of the corporation.

The examination confirmed that these disputes were ongoing and had severely disrupted the corporation’s operations, including closing its office.

As a result, ORIC issued the corporation a show cause notice on 24 October 2025, requesting an explanation as to why it should not be placed under special administration. The corporation did not respond to the notice, except for one director who supported the appointment of a special administrator.

Today, the Registrar has appointed Mr Peter McQuoid from PDM Consultancy as the special administrator. His appointment will run until 15 May 2026. All board positions have been vacated, and the special administrator will assume full responsibility for governing the corporation’s affairs during this period.
