Palyku-Jartayi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Palyku-Jartayi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (‘PJAC’) is the prescribed body corporate for the Palyku Native Title Holders. 

Their mission is to promote the management, protection and sharing of Palyku language, culture and heritage, ensure compliance with Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage Agreements, foster community development and create sustainable business and employment opportunities for the common good of the Palyku people. 

Several major mining proponents including FMG, BHP and Roy Hill are active on the Palyku lands in the Pilbara region, which span nearly 20,000 square kilometres.

Job description/overview

PJAC is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer to lead this growing organisation. You will work closely with the Board to develop and implement strategic plans, drive organisational growth and ensure the financial wellbeing of PJAC. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead strategic planning and implementation in consultation with the Board
  • Ensure financial sustainability and sound decision-making
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and partnerships
  • Oversee operations, budgets and capital expenditure
  • Build and manage a multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure compliance with all agreements and uphold cultural rights
  • Advocate for PJAC and its members with stakeholders and the wider community
  • Encourage education, training and employment opportunities for PJAC members
  • Deliver health and healing programs in collaboration with the Palyku People.

About you

A confident and collaborative leader who can inspire teams and drive strategic growth for the benefit of the Palyku community, your personal attributes include:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in land access agreements, Indigenous Land Use Agreements etc
  • Understanding of relevant legislation/acts and related organisation – ORIC, CATSI etc
  • Demonstrated business, leadership, and management experience at a senior level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly to the Pilbara.
