Kalgoorlie corporation goes into liquidation

The Supreme Court today ordered the winding up of Nooda Ngulegoo Aboriginal Corporation (ICN 3003). Jack James and Brian McMaster of KordaMentha (WA) were appointed as liquidators.

The application was made to the court by the special administrator of the corporation, Mr Tony Grieves.

The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, Mr Anthony Beven, placed the corporation under special administration on 14 December 2009, under section 487-1 of the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006. Nine of the 10 directors of the corporation had written to the Registrar on 4 December 2009 requesting the appointment of a special administrator to address governance and financial problems at the corporation.

The special administrator was unable to restructure the debts of the corporation and the corporation ceased trading in March 2010.
