The Registrar has a power under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) to issue compliance notices.
A compliance notice is an instruction to a corporation to fix something such as:
- suspected non-compliance with the CATSI Act or the corporation's rule book
- an irregularity in the corporation's affairs.
Compliance notices provide guidance for corporations on how to improve their standards of corporate governance and financial management.
