Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation represents the traditional owners of the Melbourne region. We are a large corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth) and have recognition and cultural heritage responsibilities under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic).  

As a membership-based, Wurundjeri Elder-led corporation, we exist to progress the rights and interests of Wurundjeri people.  In addition to cultural heritage services, the corporation promotes Wurundjeri culture through education and language services, and cares for country though fieldwork and ranger services.

Job description/overview

The corporation’s General Counsel works across the corporation, including supporting the Board and CEO, and manages a number of external legal service providers.

As the corporation prepares to engage in new commercial and other opportunities, we are seeking to grow the in-house legal team.

We currently have one or more vacancies for a senior lawyer (5+ years post admission experience, particularly in areas of corporate governance, agreement-making and employment law) and a para-legal.

The positions are being advertised as both fixed term and permanent, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate.

Part-time employment will also be considered.

The successful candidate/s will be required to pass a police check.
