The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, Anthony Beven, today placed the Woodgamia CDEP Aboriginal Corporation under special administration.
The corporation was registered on 22 June 1998 and managed and operated a Community Development Employment Project (CDEP) until 30 June 2004.
‘A recent review of the corporation revealed it is non-operational and has not lodged any annual returns for the years ended 30 June 2008 and 30 June 2009,’ Mr Beven said.
‘My office has not been able to contact the corporation for over two years.
‘Woodgamia CDEP Aboriginal Corporation owns valuable properties in Carnarvon which were acquired with Australian government funding to support the Aboriginal community.
‘It appears these properties are no longer being used to benefit the community.’
Mr Barry Jameson from the New South Wales based firm of TNR Financial Services Pty Ltd has been appointed as the special administrator.
‘Mr Jameson is already working with a number of corporations in Carnarvon and he will be able to contact the members to ascertain whether they want to keep the corporation running,’ Mr Beven added.
The special administrator can be contacted on (02) 6621 8544 or 0427 257 192.
Special administration is a special measure under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).
