The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, Anthony Beven, today launched a new tool to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.
The healthy corporation checklist allows bodies registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) to check compliance with their rule book and the law.
It contains links to important template documents such as notices of meetings and forms for updating information with the Registrar.
There are also checklists concerning people management, strategic planning and other issues that may be faced by corporations.
‘This is a very useful tool which I know will become popular,’ the Registrar said.
‘I recommend this resource to all corporations as it will help with compliance and assist them to adhere to important obligations and guidelines.
‘In turn, this will instil good governance practices and confidence in the running of the corporation.’The healthy corporation checklist is available by visiting the ORIC website.
‘ORIC welcomes feedback from corporations using the checklist so it can be updated and tailored to best meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.’
