Aboriginal health & wellbeing services
Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) provides a range of culturally-appropriate health and wellbeing services covering the north-west New South Wales region. The Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) placed BACHS under special administration on 15 December 2020 to initiate and ensure corporate reform. That reform will include a new governance framework and the appointment of a new board of directors.

BACHS initially seeks to appoint part-time professional advisory group members for the period of the special administration. On the completion of the special administration, the advisory group members will be invited to form the new board as non-executive directors to strengthen the leadership, governance and development of the organisation. Advisory group appointments will be made in February 2021 and the board appointed at the end of the special administration in May 2021.
Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives motivated to contribute as specialist independent directors in the strategy, leadership and commercial oversight of BACHS in its important role in improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region.
Prior board experience is preferred and persons with experience and/or interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health are encouraged to apply. Professional backgrounds in finance, legal, clinical, business or other disciplines will be highly regarded. Independent directors will be expected to demonstrate and promote a strong understanding of the role of the board, the executive and stakeholder partners in the strategic and commercial oversight of the organisation.
These corporation directorships are unpaid, with expenses provided.
