The Yindjibarndi people are the traditional owners of a large part of the central Pilbara stretching from the Millstream-Chichester National Park south across the Fortescue River into the Hamersley Ranges. With over 400 Yindjibarndi members, Wirlu-murra Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation seeks to create a positive future for the betterment of the Yindjibarndi community. We pursue immediate and long term goals with industry and government to provide social and economic benefits in areas including:
- education, training and employment
- availability of and improved standard of housing
- cultural benefits by honouring, protecting and sustaining Yindjibarndi land and culture

Our board of directors, including some of Western Australia's most respected Yindjibarndi elders and law bosses, ensure transparency and integrity in our organisation for the benefit of all our members. The board are committed to establishing a sustainable self-sufficient future for all Yindjibarndi people.
The board of WMYAC comprises 11 members, and one board-appointed independent director.
WMYAC is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and committed individuals interested in being appointed as the independent director for a period of one year.
Ideally, candidates will have expertise and skills in the areas of:
- financial management
- corporate governance
- community development
- law and/or
- other similar areas
Candidates should also show a commitment to high standards of integrity and ethics.
