Established in 1948, Ernabella Arts is Australia’s oldest, continoulsy operating Indigenous art centre.

The art centre participates in a comprehensive and vigorous visual arts program each year and we are seeking a passionate new studio manager to join the team. Ernabella primarily operates a professional painting and ceramic studio. Artists from Ernabella have won and been shortlisted in prestigious art awards such as Telstra national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award and the Indigenous Ceramic Art.

Job description/overview: 

Reporting to the manager, the studio manager will work closely with artists and art workers to support their artistic and professional development and provide art centre administration support, art centre marketing and project support as instructed by the art centre manager.

This unique and exciting opportunity for an arts professional who would like to experience life in a remote Indigenous community. She/he will need to be highly motivated, have sound administration skills, together with a highly developed sense of aesthetics and experience in arts development and marketing is required.

Respect and understanding of cross-cultural environments and knowledge of contemporary Aboriginal art is also required.

You must have highly developed listening and communications skills.

To succeed in this position, the successful applicant must have the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
