The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which provides regional and remote health services in the Pilbara Region of WA. PAMS operates four clinics in the Jigalong, Cotton Creek, Punmu and Kunawarritji communities. Its administration office is based in Newman. PAMS operates on funding from the Commonwealth Government and the WA Department of Health.

There are three main Business Units within the PAMS organisation - Medical Clinics; Community Programs; Administration; and outsourced functions which include Financial Management and HR.

A contract of employment will be negotiated for an initial three (3) year period.

Salary and conditions: 

Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant in the range of $160,000 to $180,000 per annum.

The position is located in Newman, a regional town with a growing population of 5,500 people, approximately 1,200 kilometres north of Perth in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

This position is not a designated Aboriginal-specific position as such, however being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage would be advantageous.

Job description/overview: 

The CEO will report to the PAMS Board of Directors and the key focus of the position will be to:

  • Implement the strategic directions of PAMS, as directed by the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that the organisation’s operations are consistent with the vision, plans, objectives and policies approved by the board.
  • Manage the day to day operations of PAMS.
  • Build effective working relationships with other Aboriginal Community Controlled health services, government/nongovernment agencies and service providers.

PAMS is seeking applicants with a strong understanding and commitment to the principles of the Aboriginal Community Control who are able to demonstrate substantial relevant leadership experience at a senior management level in the health sector.

The successful applicant will have the ability to guide and manage both strategic and day to day operations and ensure compliance with Commonwealth and state legislation and other requirements.

The CEO will have the ability to manage finance, budgeting and funding activities, lead a team, manage staff performance, build relationships and strategic alliances with key stakeholder groups and represent and advocate for PAMS.
