The Goldfields Land and Sea Council (GLSC) is the recognised Native Title Representative Body for the Goldfields Esperance region of Western Australia. It represents applicant groups in native title claimant proceedings conducted in the Federal Court of Australia and the National Native Title Tribunal and undertakes to protect Aboriginal heritage. The head office is in Kalgoorlie with a branch office in Perth.

The GLSC currently has an exciting opening for a Heritage Anthropologist to join the team, based in either Perth or Kalgoorlie.
This role is important within the GLSC’s operational structure. The prime responsibilities will be the successful co-ordination and conduct of heritage surveys. Other responsibilities include providing assistance to external researchers engaged by the GLSC and working closely with GLSC legal, research and field staff.
Applicants should have a degree in anthropology (honours level or higher would be preferable). Experience in conducting field research with Aboriginal people is desirable. The successful candidate will need to be well organised and have an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture. Well-developed communication skills and a willingness to travel extensively are essential.
Based on a large regional centre in one of the most significant mineral producing regions in the world, this appointment represents challenging and rewarding opportunities. Applicants need to have permanent Australian residency or citizenship.
