Mike Fordham appointed Acting Registrar of Indigenous Corporations

Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Senator the Hon. Nigel Scullion appointed Mr Mike Fordham as Acting Registrar of Indigenous Corporations on 14 April 2018.

Mr Fordham brings to the role extensive experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs, having worked in both Commonwealth and state governments across three diverse states—South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. He has held senior appointments in state government departments of housing, state development, and premier and cabinet. He has also held the position of chief executive of the Torres Strait Regional Authority.

Mr Fordham’s most recent role was with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, as Regional Manager for South Australia. In this role Mike worked closely with state government agencies, service providers, local Indigenous communities and families to create co-designed, innovative initiatives tailored to meet local needs. The priority areas for this work were children and schooling; jobs, lands and economy, safety and wellbeing; culture and capability; and remote Australia strategies.
