Mowanjum Artists Spirit of the Wandjina Aboriginal Corporation (MASWAC) has an art centre located near Derby in the Kimberley region of WA. It services 245 artists, craftspeople, dancers and singers and their children, from three language groups living in Mowanjum, Derby and outstations on the Gibb River Road.

Salary and conditions: 

$75,000–$85,000 plus, dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications

5 weeks annual leave with 17 per cent loading

One week’s Christmas leave (no leave loading)

9.5 per cent superannuation

Job description/overview: 

Mowanjum Aboriginal Art & Culture Centre is looking for someone with a combination of energy, experience, social and emotional intelligence, integrity, curiosity, creativity and passion for Indigenous art and culture, to lead it.

The art centre manager reports directly to the corporation's board of directors and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction. They will be responsible for effective operations systems and policies and will maintain and develop strategic relationships with the cultural, arts, tourism, Indigenous and economic development sectors.

The art centre manager is also responsible for managing the financial business activities with transparency and operating within a limited budget, including securing, managing and acquitting funding from a range of sources.
